Trump White House issues absolutely bonkers statement in response to John Kelly’s criticism

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Earlier today John Kelly said that if he were still White House Chief of Staff, he’d have managed to keep Donald Trump just enough in line that he wouldn’t be getting impeached right now. This has served to make Trump and Kelly both look bad, for different reasons. Now the Trump White House has gone and made the whole thing even worse with a response to Kelly that’s absolutely bonkers.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, whose actual job duties are unclear because she never holds press briefings, released a statement today in response to John Kelly’s criticism. Keep in mind that Grisham officially speaks for Donald Trump and the White House, and this is what she said: “I worked with John Kelly, and he was totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great President.”

No really, she said this. It’s been confirmed by too many major news outlets to count. This is what passes for an official White House statement on behalf of the President of the United States these days. Trump and his people aren’t even trying to give the appearance of propriety, competence, professionalism, or giving a damn anymore.

This idiotic, sophomoric, Onion-esque statement makes Donald Trump look terrible, of course. But at this point Trump’s people have long given up any pretense of trying to do anything that might help him, and are instead merely saying and doing asinine things in the name of trying to keep him fired up as he circles the drain
