Bon Voyage, Mitch McConnell

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Here’s the thing about only being in office to carry out the corrupt agenda of your wealthy puppet masters: when everything hits the fan and you have to legitimately govern, it turns out you don’t know how to do it. We’ve been seeing that from limp-brain Donald Trump all along. Now we’re seeing it from someone else: Mitch McConnell.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is now negotiating directly with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on emergency coronavirus response legislation. Why not involve Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell? He decided that he and the Senate are going to take a three day weekend. No, really. He was going to put the Senate into recess entirely, but there was too much of an uproar, so instead he’s just going to blow off the weekend.

It doesn’t even matter to McConnell that if he stuck around, he could have more say in the emergency legislation that Pelosi and Mnuchin are hammering out. McConnell doesn’t care. There isn’t going to be anything for him or his puppet masters in this legislation, so why would he bother seeking any input? Whatever the two sides work out, he’ll just have the Senate pass it and move on.

There really is nothing for Mitch McConnell at this point. Multiple Republican Senators are now under quarantine. Everyone is watching Congress closely right now. There’s little opportunity for McConnell to do any corrupt bidding. So instead he’s taking a long weekend, because hey, why not? Bon Voyage, McConnell. Do us all a favor and stay on vacation.
