Bon voyage Matt Gaetz!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We’ve all known for a long time that Matt Gaetz is slimy. From his slicked back hair to the devilish tilt of his eyebrows, he looks like Beelzebub on earth. While the released report is filled with all kinds of despicable behavior, we must admit that we have some serious problems in this country. When men think it’s okay to “buy” women and piously sit in Congress, rendering judgment of others’ behavior, it’s a big problem. The bigger problem, however, is the people who continue to vote for them despite their behavior.

Politicians on the right like to pretend that they are the “party of values” by telling women what they can and can’t do with their bodies and forcing the Bible into schools. Yet, they support someone who has no values, not even one. One of the “women” with whom Gaetz engaged in sex was 17 years old at the time. Is that some type of “value” that’s being hidden from everyone else? Apparently not, since in the “real world” he would be tried and convicted of statutory rape. Gaetz had the nerve to be “mulling over” a run for Marco Rubio’s vacated Florida Senate seat. There is no place in Congress for such an odious person.

The Atlantic went into detail about Gaetz’s activities, which placed him in a position to “face the blunt reality of his own political irrelevance,” as the Atlantic wrote. According to the Atlantic, Gaetz paid “tens of thousands of dollars” to multiple women, including the 17-year-old, and drugs “on at least 20 occasions.” In its final analysis, the House Ethics Committee wrote that Gaetz “violated House Rules, state and federal laws, and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, acceptance of impermissible gifts, the provision of special favors and privileges, and obstruction of Congress.” Even after all this, Gaetz continued to proclaim his innocence and filed a restraining order to stop the release. It should have been released. Constituents have the right to know what they’re voting into office. Given how much time he spent carousing, it’s no surprise that he got little done for them.

It is a good thing Gaetz resigned from Congress. It is doubtful that he will ever hold public office again. Peter Schorsch, a Florida publisher/former political consultant told Raw Story: “GOP voters are not going to go with the P. Diddy of Florida politics.” Raw Story shared that the ethics report also hurt Gaetz in the real world, as he was poised to become an anchor at Newsmax, but they want no part of him. He’ll now go to work at OANN, which is based in San Diego. Some speculate that Gaetz will move to San Diego as a result. It doesn’t matter much where he goes; his life as he knew it is over.
