Donald Trump just blinked

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump spent the week publicly insisting that his ICE henchmen would launch massive raids on Sunday, rounding up “millions” of immigrants at once, thus moving the United States all that much closer to becoming Nazi Germany. The first rule of deciphering Trump is that he usually does his most horrible things without warning, and that when he does publicly threaten to do something horrible, he’s rarely does it. Sure enough, Trump just blinked.

Donald Trump posted this disturbing tweet on Saturday afternoon: “At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations start!”

It’s not clear what if anything Trump expects to somehow get from Congress in the next two weeks (his border wall fantasy will never, ever happen). Perhaps he’s planning to wait two weeks, announce that Congress gave him some major concession that it didn’t actually give him, and falsely declare victory. Or maybe he’ll go through with the despicable raids in two weeks after all. This guy isn’t exactly playing with a full deck these days when it comes to decision-making; consider that he claims to have called off military action against Iran after the planes were already in the air.

In any case, Donald Trump just blinked, in yet another sign of weakness on his part. He’ll get nothing at all out of this delay. Americans need to remain as vigilant as ever when it comes to protecting immigrants from Trump’s roving henchmen, and Americans need to remain as loud as ever about Trump’s immigrant concentration camps. Trump will end up in prison for this when it’s all said and done – but in the meantime, every American has a patriotic duty to save as many immigrant lives as possible.
