Donald Trump just blew it in his Post Office battle

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

From the start, Donald Trump has been handling his Post Office gambit in rather stupid fashion. For instance, he admitted in two separate press briefings that he’s planning to trade the Post Office back to Congress in exchange for concessions – an admission that he knows he can’t simply hold the Post Office hostage all the way to election day.

Now that Trump’s own Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has totally caved by agreeing to testify to the House next week instead of trying to drag the hearing date out in a court battle, Trump has precious little leverage to work with. As he tends to do when he’s losing a battle, Trump is resorting to whining about the Post Office more hysterically than ever. In the process, he totally blew it.

Trump posted this tweet today: “The U.S. Post Office (System) has been failing for many decades. We simply want to MAKE THE POST OFFICE GREAT AGAIN, while at the same time saving billions of dollars a year for American Taxpayers. Dems don’t have a clue! @USPostOffice911”

If you’re wondering, @USPostOffice911 is a fairly obscure Twitter account that’s dedicated to shining a light on Donald Trump’s Post Office sabotage. But because Donald Trump mentioned @USPostOffice911 in a tweet, the account has suddenly gained thousands of new followers today, thus amplifying the account’s message. Trump frequently makes the mistake of giving his adversaries a larger voice, and he just did it again – at a time when the last thing he needs is for the Post Office battle to tip even further away from him.
