Donald Trump goes berserk about “Black Lives Matter” being painted on Fifth Avenue outside Trump Tower
When New York City decided to paint “Black Lives Matter” on the street outside Trump Tower, it was both the right thing to do, and something that the city knew would piss off Donald Trump. Sure enough, now that the paint is about to hit the pavement, Trump is going nuclear about it – in particularly offensive fashion.
Trump tweeted this bizarre screed: “NYC is cutting Police $’s by ONE BILLION DOLLARS, and yet the @NYCMayor is going to paint a big, expensive, yellow Black Lives Matter sign on Fifth Avenue, denigrating this luxury Avenue. This will further antagonize New York’s Finest, who LOVE New York & vividly remember the horrible BLM chant, “Pigs In A Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon”. Maybe our GREAT Police, who have been neutralized and scorned by a mayor who hates & disrespects them, won’t let this symbol of hate be affixed to New York’s greatest street. Spend this money fighting crime instead!”
Two things stand out here. First, Trump is flat out stating that the phrase “Black Lives Matter” is “denigrating” Fifth Avenue. That’s about as blatantly racist as you can get. Second, Trump is calling on the police to somehow stop it from being painted. Considering it’s being painted at the order of the mayor, Trump appears to be urging the police to commit crimes by interfering with the painting process. Trump is completely out of his mind.
