Donald Trump has utterly bizarre response to Kirsten Gillibrand dropping out of the race

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3760 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.

Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand officially dropped out of the 2020 race for president today, shortly after she learned that she wasn’t going to qualify for the next round of televised debates. This felt like a rational move on her part. In contrast, Donald Trump’s response to Gillibrand’s exit was anything but rational.

Trump posted this bizarre tweet: “A sad day for the Democrats, Kirsten Gillibrand has dropped out of the Presidential Primary. I’m glad they never found out that she was the one I was really afraid of!” Wait a minute here.

Whatever you might think of Kirsten Gillibrand as a candidate, the reality is that she was polling at 0.1% in the Democratic primary race. For that matter, there was no polling data to suggest that she would have matched up better against Trump in the general election than any other Democratic candidate would.

We’re left to conclude that Donald Trump is being sarcastic here and thinks he’s funny, never having had any semblance of a sense of humor. This comes after Democratic candidate Seth Moulton dropped out last week, and Trump tweeted a lame joke about how the stock market was actually crashing that day because of the Moulton news, and not because of his failed trade war.

Donald Trump is increasingly starting to sound like a cartoon movie villain who has snapped under the pressure of impending defeat, and as a result, has given up any remaining shred of sanity. In fact, Trump increasingly sounds like he’s on laughing gas.
