Bill Belichick says no to Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Over the weekend Donald Trump launched a desperate last ditch bid to give himself a second term in office by… giving the Presidential Medal of Freedom to New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Wait that can’t be right, and yet it really did happen.

Except now it’s not happening. ESPN’s Adam Schefter just posted this statement from Bill Belichick, turning down the Medal of Freedom:

In citing last week’s U.S. Capitol domestic terrorist attack as the reason for turning down the award, Belichick seems to be acknowledging that Trump was merely trying to give him the award as a way of distracting from Trump’s role in the attack. Notably, Belichick was a Trump supporter in the 2016 election.

You can interpret the statement however you like. But the bottom line is that Trump can’t even get football coaches to accept an award from him anymore. He’s that radioactive.
