Bill Barr runs for the hills

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Bill Barr, remembered as one of the more competent villains of the former guy’s administration appeared on Fox News, even though his refusal to go along with Donald Trump’s more insane ideas eventually cost him his job. In return for feeding leaks to the media for much of his time as Attorney General of the United States, he’s now counting on them to rehabilitate his image as someone who stood up to Trump, and his Fox News appearance on Friday was no different. While the GOP was hoping that they could get Barr to lament on the current state of the Justice Department, he didn’t exactly go where they had in mind.

Rather than fuel their claims about the DOJ being politicized by this administration, Barr offered his commentary on the warranted search of Mar-a-Lago, but he went in a different direction by calling it ‘unprecedented.’ Sure, it’s unprecedented for the FBI to enter and search the residence of a former president, but it’s also unprecedented for a former president to take all of the classified secrets that he had in the first place. What’s interesting is that Barr didn’t downplay what was taken – even if he tried to refer to what Trump did as jerking the government around.

It’s getting harder for the top apologists of Donald Trump to come to his side – so the more deranged and lower profile people are the ones running to his rescue right now – something that will shift when they realize their own problems are more important. Unfortunately, Barr has already shown us who he is, and there’s no coming back from that.
