Bill Barr isn’t very good at this whole testimony thing
When Attorney General Bill Barr released his prepared opening statement last night, it was full of rage, conspiracy theories, and loud bluster. But now that Barr is in front of the TV cameras for his testimony today, he’s coming off like a confused bumbler who is tepidly unsure of what he’s talking about. So what gives?
It’s clear that Bill Barr doesn’t have the guts to be the aggressive loudmouth in person that he was in his written statement. Instead he’s choosing his words very carefully, afraid of giving anything away. In fact it’s almost as if Barr is trying to come off like a confused dummy, in the hope of convincing everyone that he’s too inept to have been behind the criminal acts of obstruction of justice and violence that he’s been carrying out.
In any case, Bill Barr isn’t very good at this whole testimony thing. Instead of trying to seize the day and win this hearing, he’s merely trying to play things to a draw. It also very much appears that Barr’s real focus is on trying to lay the groundwork to eventually convince a trial jury that he’s too stupid and clueless to have committed the criminal acts that he’s committed. It’s another sign that Barr is worried about going to prison once Donald Trump is gone.
