Bill Barr goes completely berserk the night before his House testimony

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If you’ve been wondering whether Attorney General Bill Barr would actually show up for his scheduled House testimony tomorrow, it looks like you now have your answer. Barr has submitted a prepared opening statement, a customary component of congressional testimony, and a strong signal that he does indeed plan to show up tomorrow. Here’s the thing, though: his statement is completely berserk.

One of the things that Bill Barr is being forced to testify about is the DOJ’s criminal use of force against peaceful protesters in places like Washington DC and Portland. In his opening statement, Barr is referring to these peaceful protesters as “violent rioters and anarchists” and “armed mobs” and other nonsense.

In other completely deranged rant, Barr is referring to Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia probe as “bogus” – a sign that he intends to use his testimony to push the most maniacally deranged conspiracy theory gibberish that Donald Trump has spent the past couple years promoting.

So now we know why Bill Barr has decided to show up tomorrow: he’s going to make a complete fool of himself for the benefit of precisely one audience member, that being Donald Trump. It’s not a surprise. At this point Barr has committed such severe acts of felony obstruction of justice, he’s never getting out of prison unless Trump gives him a pardon on his way out the door. Barr will be spending his testimony tomorrow begging Trump for his life.

Of course this isn’t about what Bill Barr plans to say, which will be of no relevance because that kind of conspiracy rhetoric won’t change a single vote. Tomorrow’s hearing will be entirely about what the Democrats on the committee can get Barr to unwittingly admit to once they get him flustered. Last time Barr testified, the Democrats got under his skin and he ended up performing quite poorly. We’ll see if tomorrow ends up being a repeat.
