Biden and the Democrats have accomplished a ton, and it’s time for the media to stop lying about it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

While the media is keeping its focus on the drama among a perfectly divided 50-50 senate, and making it seem as though Democrats haven’t accomplished any significant items in the last year and a half, the truth is that not only is the Democratic controlled Senate accomplishing more than a Republican controlled Senate accomplished in six years, but that the legislation passed has been incredibly meaningful to the average American.

The American Rescue Plan Act is a significant and sizable piece of legislation that a number of Americans don’t even realize has passed Congress and been signed by the president, let alone know the majority of provisions it contains. A recently released study, for example, demonstrates that this legislation raised 114,000 children in Michigan from poverty, while providing assistance to an additional two million children released this week.

The credit, which expired in December of 2021, took the form of direct monthly payments of $250 or $300 given to families throughout the United States. The report called on the tax credits to be expanded into permanent public policy, demonstrating that they would reduce child poverty across the country by 40%. The media’s eagerness to present “both-sides” is in fact a blind spot that does the public a great disservice.

Rather than trying to keep a close race between the party that’s focused on this issue and one that’s doing all it can to push for autocracy, we could in fact be having debates about issues like this – but the only way to do that is to fight like hell from now until November and get behind Democrats in close races in order to expand our majority Let’s vote for the side that actually cares about Americans and cares about getting things done – while removing Republicans from every level of power.
