Beto O’Rourke is off to a strong start in Texas

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The race is ON in Texas. It’s Greg Abbott on the insurrection side and Beto O’Rourke on our side. And speaking of Beto, his campaign has gotten off to one heck of a start. Never let it be said that Democrats aren’t energized and eager to see new leadership in Texas.

In the first 24 hours of announcing his candidacy, Beto has raised a whopping $2 million. Just take that in for a minute. We’re talking about $2 million in ONE DAY! Wow. That is one incredible start.

The donations came from 31,000 individual donors. Beto’s campaign said that they have set a record for “any democrat gubernatorial candidate for the first 24 hours.” It doesn’t surprise me. Beto came close to winning when he ran against Ted Cruz, and he can win against Abbott.

It is just a question of putting in the hard work. And we can all help. Phone banking, knocking on doors (if you live in Texas), donations (if you have the money) — all of this will go a long way. And in my opinion, Beto has something many other candidates do not have. He has star power.

He is charismatic, deeply knowledgeable about what everyday Americans need, and has national name recognition. We also cannot forget that his opponent, Abbott is a miserable and incompetent Governor, so this will surely help us in our quest to take back Texas from the incompetent leadership it is now living under.
