Beto O’Rourke comes out swinging
Now that Donald Trump’s approval numbers are dropping and his reelection prospects are in danger of slipping away entirely, he’s searching for someone – anyone – to scapegoat for his own coronavirus crisis failures. His latest target is one of his favorite targets: immigration. Trump is making the bizarre, pointless, and racist move of temporarily banning all immigration to the United States.
Beto O’Rourke is having none of it. After Trump tweeted that he was banning immigration, Beto let loose on him: “An attempt to distract us from his total mismanagement (43,000 of our fellow Americans have died so far – 20,000 more than next closest country AND we’ve tested little more than 1% of U.S.). But will still have terrible consequences for America. We should take it seriously.”
Beto continued: “So many of the doctors, nurses and cleaning staff in the hospitals that are literally saving this country — despite how badly bungled the President’s leadership has been — are immigrants.
