Donald Trump goes berserk as his war with Twitter backfires on him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Twitter decided to do the bare minimum by placing tepidly worded fact check warnings on two of Donald Trump’s tweets, he’d have done well to simply ignore it, as it didn’t appear that Twitter was interested in doing much more to him. But Trump instead decided to blow it up into a big deal, and now it’s backfiring on him in real time.

Trump announced last night that he’s signing an executive order aimed at allowing the government to punish social networks that dare to cross him. While the executive order is a disturbing assault on the free world, it’s also rather toothless, and appears to be all for show. So now Trump is stuck with the negative stories about him being an insecure abuser of power, and he hasn’t gotten his way when it comes to Twitter fact checks.

So now Trump has nothing left to do other than melt down like an infant: “So ridiculous to see Twitter trying to make the case that Mail-In Ballots are not subject to FRAUD. How stupid, there are examples, & cases, all over the place. Our election process will become badly tainted & a laughingstock all over the World. Tell that to your hater
@yoyoel”

If this is all Donald Trump has left, then he’s already lost his war with Twitter. He’s being widely criticized and lampooned, he looks like an idiot in the eyes of just about everyone, and – perhaps more importantly when it comes to would-be tyrants – he took a swing and missed.
