Donald Trump has berserk meltdown after no one watches his convention speech
Just how poorly watched was the 2020 Republican National Convention? It came up significantly short in the TV ratings on all four nights, in comparison to the 2020 Democratic National Convention. More specifically, Donald Trump’s acceptance speech was watched by far fewer people than Joe Biden’s acceptance speech.
It’s clear that Trump has a problem. People are so over him, they’re not even giving him a chance to make his case anymore. But instead of trying to find a way to solve his problem and climb back into election contention, Trump is instead relying on his increasingly favorite security blanket: pure delusion.
Shortly after midnight on Friday night, Trump tweeted this: “Great total numbers for the Republican National Convention. Blows Democrat National Convention away. Also, much bigger fund raising numbers!” After he was widely lampooned in the replies for flat out lying, he added this additional lie: “How does the Fake News not include Online Streaming Numbers where Republicans blow the Dem Numbers away?”
It’s not entirely clear if Donald Trump is simply lying in the hope that his dwindling base will fall for it, or if Trump is so far gone cognitively that his handlers are feeding him fake positive news and he’s falling for it. Either way, Trump is in a hole, with no clear way for him to climb out of it – and instead of trying to find a lifeline, he’s just digging the hole deeper.
