Donald Trump has berserk meltdown after his Republican candidate loses in Kentucky
We knew it was coming when Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager issued a laughably asinine statement tonight claiming that Trump “just about dragged Gov. Matt Bevin across the finish line” after Bevin humiliatingly lost his reelection bid in a race where Trump’s involvement likely made things worse for Bevin. Sure enough, Trump himself is now chiming in and making a complete fool of himself.
Donald Trump posted this tweet just before midnight, as he tried to spin the utter disaster in Kentucky in his favor: “Matt Bevin picked up at least 15 points in last days, but perhaps not enough (Fake News will blame Trump!)” Uh, no, nice try. The most recent polls we could find in the Kentucky race showed that Bevin was ahead by anywhere from zero to five points before his big rally with Trump.
Donald Trump’s assertion that Bevin gained fifteen points in the final days is absolutely, hysterically, nonsensically, fictional. Yet this is the kind of crap that Trump now appears to believe. Trump also went on to retweet a news report claiming that the Kentucky Governor race was still “too close to call” more than an hour after every major news outlet had called it in favor of Democratic candidate Andy Beshear.
It would be one thing for Donald Trump to simply try to put a brave face on the bad news that keeps pouring in, and try to publicly spin it in his favor. All politicians do that. But Trump is doing something else here. He appears to believe the laugh out loud nonsense he’s promoting, which means that his babysitters are feeding him positive fake news about himself in the hope of keeping him from falling to pieces on the floor as his life continues to fall apart.
