When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (allegedly) assassinated a top Iranian nuclear scientist several days ago, some observers feared that Netanyahu was trying to find a way to save Donald Trump. But Palmer Report explained that Netanyahu knows full well that Trump is finished, and Netanyahu is merely trying to find a way to save himself.

After all, Netanyahu – who’s facing criminal indictment for corruption – has a very tenuous hold on his office. Israel has had multiple elections in a row with no conclusive winner, and has failed to form a proper coalition each time. Somehow Netanyahu is still in power. But now the WSJ is reporting that Netanyahu’s own coalition partners are bailing on him, meaning there could soon be yet another election, and a new opportunity for Netanyahu to be tossed out of office.

In other words, Netanyahu is on thinner ice than ever. And if he does lose the prime ministership this time, he’ll have to face indictment and could end up in prison. So if Netanyahu is indeed the one who’s been trying to aggravate things between Israel and Iran, then it has to be seen as a last ditch panic move to try to create an excuse for his own continued existence. Meanwhile Iran, which is clearly trying to get back into its lucrative Obama-era trade deal, doesn’t seem interested in playing Netanyahu’s game.
