Donald Trump is being finished off by a monster of his own creation

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Violent thugs have invaded the Capitol Building, in what amounts to an armed domestic terrorist attack against the United States. It’s obviously a terrible thing for the country. But in political terms, it’s not going to hurt us; it’s going to hurt Trump and his party.

Everyone knows that Donald Trump encouraged this. In fact his tweets calling for this kind of attack will be introduced as evidence at his criminal trial. Trump knows he’s in trouble too, because he’s now begun tweeting for his terrorists to stand down.

Republicans also understand that this is the worst possible thing for their party. Multiple House Republicans are now calling in to CNN and blaming Trump for the fact that they’re under attack. They’re belatedly and rather desperately trying to distance themselves from this, because they know that the blowback will be entirely against their party, because they’ve spent the past four years being the party of Trump.

It’s now clear that the monster Donald Trump created has turned against him. These pro-Trump terrorists aren’t helping his cause, they’re dramatically hurting his cause. It’s now a given that Trump will face federal criminal trial in addition to state charges.

It also raises sharp questions as to whether Donald Trump will even get to finish his term. With Trump having spurred on this terrorist attack, and with Trump now unwilling or unable to do anything to try to stop it, Mike Pence is probably thinking about the 25th Amendment, if only from a standpoint of self interest. And Mitch McConnell has to be thinking about telling Pelosi to send over articles of impeachment tomorrow, so Trump can be removed. Everything is fluid right now, but it’s guaranteed to end badly for Trump.
