Here’s a peek at just how aggressively Robert Mueller is moving behind the scenes
Best anyone can tell, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is just about ready to indict and arrest key Trump-Russia figure Roger Stone. Even as we wait to see whether that move comes just before or just after the midterm elections, we’re getting a peek at just how aggressively Mueller is moving behind the scenes.
For months it’s been widely reported that Roger Stone associate Andrew Miller has been doing everything he can to try to avoid testifying against Stone before Mueller’s grand jury. Miller has filed appeals. He’s been held in contempt. He’s tried to challenge the legality of the overall Mueller investigation. Clearly, Miller is a key witness against Stone, or else he wouldn’t be going this far to try to avoid having to testify against him. But Mueller also has a multitude of other damning witnesses against Stone, from Sam Nunberg to Randy Credico to dozen other reported names.
If Robert Mueller were a less aggressive and thorough prosecutor, he’d just shrug off Andrew Miller and move on. After all, what’s one grand jury witness against Roger Stone in a sea of grand jury witnesses against Roger Stone? But that’s not how Mueller operates. Politico has pieced together that Mueller is taking his fight with Andrew Miller all the way up the legal ladder. That includes a December 14th hearing, which frankly, will probably take place after Roger Stone has been indicted and arrested.
So what is Robert Mueller doing? In short, he’s letting no one off the hook. This guy doesn’t want to testify against Roger Stone? Mueller doesn’t appear to need him, yet Mueller is taking him to the mat anyway. Why? In the Trump-Russia investigation, no one gets a free pass. This should serve as a wake up call for those in Donald Trump’s orbit who think they’ve gotten away with committing things like obstruction of justice or perjury in this scandal. Mueller isn’t letting anyone off the hook on any level.
