Donald Trump’s base will just never get it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This past week featured numerous witnesses testifying and putting the puzzle pieces in place to show that “President” Donald J. Trump criminally extorted Ukraine President Zelensky and that there was a quid pro quo. Even former special prosecutor Kenneth Starr suggested that it might be time for the GOP to convince Trump to resign. However, listen in to Sean Hannity or any of the rightwing hatchet men and women, and you would never know anything damaging happened this week.

On Saturday, after attending a football game and trying to find something on the dial about the Penn State – Ohio State game or other action, I hit 1440 AM, WROK, out of Rockford, Illinois. Hannity was on with a guest, and the focus of the discussion appeared to be that Trump specifically stated at least twice that there was no quid pro quo and so game over.

I did not, could not, listen for longer than a few minutes. It is just so much drivel and poppycock being spewed.

But it is dangerous too, because many of the listeners and viewers of this crap do not read anything, do not listen or watch anything, and so they just believe what is fed to them daily. Many will find that Trump is the poor victim. Anyone who actually pays any attention knows what is really happening, but sadly, Trump’s base just doesn’t get it.
