It’s finally Roger Stone’s time in the barrel

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Three days ago, Palmer Report spotted what appeared to be the beginning of a conspicuous trend: even though there was nothing new to report about it, the mainstream media was suddenly pushing Robert Mueller’s investigation into Roger Stone to the forefront. It started with a lengthy new Wall Street Journal piece that said nothing new. Since that time, other major newspapers have also brought the ongoing Stone saga to the forefront, and now suddenly entire blocks are being devoted to it on MSNBC. So what’s going on here?

What stands out there the most is that no new information is being presented in any of these high profile reports about Roger Stone. Various grand jury witnesses against Stone have been speaking publicly for months about what Robert Mueller asked them about. So if you’ve been paying close attention, you already know that Mueller is seeking to nail Stone for conspiring with WikiLeaks and/or Russian hackers during the election, while also hitting him with a variety of other financial and corruption charges going back decades.

It’s roughly the same strategy that Mueller successfully used against Paul Manafort. In that case, once Manafort was convicted for a number of relatively easy to prove financial crimes, he cut a plea deal before even getting to the Russia-related charges, which were more subjective and would have been less easy to prove. Mueller is pretty clearly seeking to convince Stone he’s screwed on the financial fraud charges, prompting him to cut a plea deal against Donald Trump.

As we pointed out when this media blitz about Roger Stone first began over the weekend, one possible explanation is that the major media outlets have been tipped off that Roger Stone is about to be imminently indicted and arrested. The other possibility is that, based on everything else we’ve learned about Paul Manafort’s testimony and Robert Mueller’s timetable, the major media outlets have simply concluded that Stone is about to get popped shortly after the midterms. Either way, it looks we’re now either days or weeks away from Roger Stone’s arrest. Stone is feeling the heat; he recently announced on Instagram that Mueller and his team were “legal terrorists.”
