Pack your bags, Scott Pruitt

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Here’s the thing about Donald Trump. For all his bravado and bluster, he cuts and runs at the first sign of trouble – and scapegoats his own people. We saw it when he dumped his National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to try to fend off the Russia scandal. We saw again this week when he dumped VA Secretary David Shulkin to try to make the VA scandal go away. This has merely taught the Resistance that they can goad Trump into getting rid of just about anyone they want, just by making that person’s scandals into a big enough problem for Trump. Now he’s sizing up EPA head Scott Pruitt for the exits.

On Friday morning, Palmer Report pointed to Trump’s consistent pattern of sacrificing his own people, and the critical mass surrounding Scott Pruitt’s corruption scandals, and predicted that he’d be gone before much longer. Then late on Friday evening, as if on cue, Trump’s White House informed CNN that they’re “exasperated” with Pruitt. So we know what’s likely to come next.

Pretty soon we’ll wake up to a tweet from Donald Trump, announcing that he’s fired Pruitt. Perhaps that tweet will have even been posted in between the time that we’ve published this article and the time that you’re reading it. Or maybe Trump will decide that he should only fire one cabinet member per week, and wait until Monday to pull the trigger. With this guy, you never know.

Considering that Donald Trump just tried to replace the head of the VA with his own personal physician, it’s entirely possible he’ll try to replace EPA boss Scott Pruitt with his campaign surrogate Scott Baio. But the upshot is this: all the public and the media had to do was turn Pruitt’s scandals into a big enough headache for Trump, and he’s already placing stories in the media softening up the ground for Pruitt’s firing. If you want Trump to sacrifice anyone else, you know what to do. Trump is just that vulnerable and scared.
