Bad news for Ted Cruz
Ted Cruz is a joke. Everybody sane knows this. The man appears to have few friends, and there is a reason for that. His smarminess oozes from every pore. His tweets are nearly always foolish, and most don’t make a heck of a lot of sense.
And he has shown with his actions that he really doesn’t care about his constituents all that much. But does he care about the rule of law? Not according to the 65 project. I say this because this group has just filed a complaint against Rafael, seeking to have him disbarred.
This group, an activist organization, claims Cruz showed his disdain for the law by trying to overthrow a fair and free election. It also calls into question Rafael’s “participation in lawsuits protesting the results in Pennsylvania.”
This group — the 65 projects was formed on the basis of holding certain lawyers accountable for their roles in overthrowing the 2020 election. “Mr. Cruz chose to offer his professional license to Mr. Trump’s arsenal during the latter’s assault on our democracy,” the complaint says.
“He cannot be shielded from the consequences of that decision simply because, unlike Mr. Trump’s other attorneys, he happens to hold public office.” The complaint also argues that Cruz “knew that claims of voter fraud or the election being stolen were false.” The complaint asks the office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel; to “impose discipline” on Cruz.
Wow. The complaint is about 15 pages long and was filed to the state bar of Texas. Rafael was clearly not happy about this filing. When asked for his thoughts, he derided the group calling them “a far-left dark money smear machine.” He also said their complaint “won’t be worth the paper it’s printed on.”
This writer vehemently disagrees with Rafael. This writer feels this complaint was a long time coming and that it should be taken seriously — very seriously. Rafael has a bad habit of not taking seriously the things he should. His attic’s a little dusty when it comes to making intelligent decisions.
I’ve no idea what will come of this complaint, but I am very glad it was filed. Everybody needs accountability, and that includes sycophantic Texas Senators like Rafael.
