This morning Palmer Report pointed out that Donald Trump had managed to back himself into a no-win corner. He couldn’t keep amping up his racist attacks without costing himself mainstream votes. He couldn’t disavow his own racist rhetoric without alienating his racist base. Trump spent the past few days trying to alternate between both shores, landing on neither, and drowning in the controversy. Then today he went and made it even worse.

The Washington Post published an expose into just how badly Donald Trump botched the whole racism thing, and how his increasingly erratic approach to it is sending everyone around him into a panic. Trump couldn’t handle the notion that he’s an out-of-control idiot who’s being babysat by his handlers, so he claimed today that the Post somehow faked its sources, and that the only thing people are talking about is the size of his rally crowd (hint: no one is talking about this). But this tantrum wasn’t enough, of course.

Right after Trump finished insisting that the racist tweet crisis within his administration doesn’t really exist, he turned around and posted this racist tweet, thus worsening the crisis: “I don’t believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country. They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said. They are destroying the Democrat Party, but are weak & insecure people who can never destroy our great Nation!”

Donald Trump is the guy who’s been accused of stealing the tip money off a restaurant table, and he’s insisting to the manager that he didn’t do it while he’s running around to other tables and scavenging for additional tip money to steal. Trump is handling this whole thing in astoundingly inept fashion, even for him.
