We just saw an article of impeachment unfold in front of us

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager and current sycophant without a cause, spent most of his testimony today refusing to answer questions, responding with dimwitted snark, pretending not to know what he said in his own books, and outright lying. But somewhere in there, Lewandowski went ahead and confirmed large chunks of his role in Trump’s criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice.

So much chaos and general idiocy was playing out during today’s hearing, from Donald Trump’s weird tweet about how “beautiful” it was, to GOP Congressman Doug Collins’ failed attempt at impersonating one of his own staff members, it would have been easy to overlook the most important moment. It came when Lewandowski – even while claiming not to have read the Mueller report – went ahead and stated that he had no reason to dispute anything that the report said about him.

Corey Lewandowski’s testimony today served to establish that Donald Trump really did ask Lewandowski to lean on others in the Trump administration to have Robert Mueller fired. This is the textbook definition of felony obstruction of justice. The fact that it failed, and Mueller wasn’t fired, doesn’t make it any less of a felony. When the House Democrats brought in the professional counsel to grill Lewandowski toward the end, Lewandowski ended up getting flustered, and all but confessed Trump’s guilt.

What we just saw was an article of impeachment against Donald Trump unfolding before our eyes. The entire point of the current hearings is to establish the legal case for winning the ongoing court battle over the testimony and evidence required to put on compelling televised impeachment hearings. Despite his best effort at not cooperating, Corey Lewandowski’s testimony today just put the Democrats a lot closer to winning their court battles, and getting on with this. We also saw one of the eleven inevitable obstruction of justice articles of impeachment laid out for all to see. Blink and you missed it.
