Roger Stone acknowledges he’s about to be arrested, and gives something away in the process

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Yesterday, Palmer Report wrote that Donald Trump’s longtime pal Roger Stone will soon be indicted and arrested by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It’s become clear that Mueller’s grand jury, which has recently subpoenaed several people who work for Stone, after having already subpoenaed several of Stone’s friends, was in fact targeting him. Now we’re getting confirmation of this – from Stone himself.

Roger Stone appeared on NBC’s Meet The Press this morning and revealed that he’s now “prepared” to be indicted by Mueller’s grand jury. Of course an indictment is a greenlight for an arrest, meaning that Stone will be arrested soon. As we explained yesterday, Stone’s arrest is probably not days away, as these last and closest witnesses against him still have to show up and testify, but it’s probably no more than a few weeks away. Stone knows it’s coming, and what’s notable is how he’s framing the criminal charges he expects to face.

Here’s what Stone told Chuck Todd he expects to be indicted for: “some extraneous crime pertaining to my business, or maybe not even pertaining to the 2016 election.” In other words he’s already laying the groundwork for characterizing his inevitable arrest as being outside the scope of Mueller’s investigation, a defense already being (unsuccessfully) employed by his longtime pal Paul Manafort.

Roger Stone is also doubling down on the lies coming from his pal Donald Trump. Stone insisted this morning that there is “no evidence whatsoever of Russian collusion.” In reality there have been dozens of meetings between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, some with the express and admitted purpose of conspiring to alter the outcome of the election. It’s not yet clear if Stone will be initially charged for his criminal conspiracy with Julian Assange to rig the election, or if the initial charges will be limited to things that are easier to prove, such as perjury, or – as Stone alluded to – crimes committed in his business life.
