Another rotten egg

Emil Bove hitched his wagon to the right “star.” Having served as Trump’s personal criminal attorney, Bove secured a top position in Trump’s justice department. He is now poised to possibly realize his lifelong dream of becoming a federal judge, which Washington Monthly says he is “decidedly unsuited to fill.” No surprise there. Trump introduced his unqualified nominee via Truth Social: “Emil is SMART, TOUGH, and respected by everyone. He will end the Weaponization of Justice, restore the Rule of Law, and do anything else that is necessary to, MAKE AMERICAN GREAT AGAIN. Emil Bove will never let you down!” Trump is such a drama queen. Virtually every statement in this post is the opposite of what is true.
Bove is the antithesis of the rule of law, and considering that he is only 44 years old, if confirmed, he will wreak havoc on the judicial system for years to come. This is exactly what Donald Trump wants. He hates the justice system, which did exactly as it was supposed to when Trump was being prosecuted. There’s an old saying: “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.” Trump will never heed that because he has become so adept at outmaneuvering the system. If he is successful at putting stooges like Bove on the federal bench, Trump will never have to worry about being prosecuted again.
Washington Monthly pointed out that an appointment to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit will carve a path to the Supreme Court for Bove. The makeup of SCOTUS is bad enough now, but adding an incompetent hatchet man will make it even worse. The fact that Bove has never served in any judiciary capacity nor has he ever litigated on the appellate level makes him even more unqualified for this role. Trump, of course, could care less about competence. Hell, Trump is incompetent himself, but what is even more important to Donald Trump is loyalty. That’s how Bove even got his job with the DOJ. According to those with knowledge, Bove is a “combative hatchet man” who defends Trump’s agenda mercilessly. One of the things that Bove has accomplished while in the DOJ is to get New York Mayor Eric Adams’ corruption charges dismissed. Other U.S. attorneys resigned rather than drop the charges, and Bove ended up arguing before the court alone.
Bove’s nomination will not be easy. According to Washington Monthly, “…others, including conservatives, have expressed concern that Bove’s nomination reflects an overtly politicized approach to judicial appointments.” That should come as no surprise. Trump has spent his time in office rewarding those who are loyal to him, and Bove is no different. If he can reward him with a lifetime judicial appointment, he will certainly do that. Trump has already said that Bove “would do whatever is necessary” to advance his agenda, which means Bove will do what other federal judges are refusing to do, break the law. Democrats will fight his nomination, but there is only so much they can do. Republicans have the majority 53 to 47, but Democrats will not go down quietly.
