Another rat jumps off Donald Trump’s sinking ship
Donald Trump’s approval rating and poll numbers continue to sink. His scandals continue to get worse. And his behavior suggests that he’s more interested in making a mess for the country than he is in trying to find some way to win in November.
Accordingly, the rats are jumping off Trump’s sinking ship to varying degrees – depending on how much trouble they’re in themselves. For instance, Lindsey Graham is now regularly taking shots at Trump in the hope of avoiding losing his own reelection bid, which Trump is now taking personally. And Brett Kavanaugh clearly placed his bets yesterday that Trump is going to lose. Now another Trump loyalist is jumping ship.
Former Senator and current MSNBC analyst Claire McCaskill pointed out that Georgia Senator David Perdue is now sidestepping the Trump train in the hope of salvaging his own 2020 reelection bid:
Breaking: @sendavidperdue has undergone surgery to separate himself from Trump and is now airing ads in Georgia that don’t even MENTION Trump. No one has carried Trump’s water with more enthusiasm than Perdue. And now he ghosts him. Like rats from a sinking ship….

If Donald Trump’s numbers keep dropping and his behavior keeps getting more disturbing, we’re going to see more of this. The Republicans will hang in there with Trump as long as they can – but when it comes down to it, more of them care infinitely more about their own fates than they do about Trump’s fate.
