Another one bites the dust
Here’s the thing about distractions, sideshows, and red herrings: they tend to fall by the wayside once the actual plot comes to the forefront. When it starts happening, it’s a reminder not to waste your time focusing on such sideshows. It’s also a sign that the real plot is indeed finally happening.
Take yesterday, for instance. How much time did the talking heads on TV and Twitter spend chasing ratings by insisting that a fringe group called No Labels was going to upend the 2024 election in doomsday fashion? Yesterday, No Labels announced that it won’t even have a candidate in the 2024 presidential race. This group was always a sideshow that was always going to have no impact, and now it’s official.
Then there was Judge McAfee’s decision yesterday to strike down Donald Trump’s last ditch nonsense filings in the Fulton County criminal case. For all the endless doomsday hype about DA Fani Willis being removed and the case falling apart, none of that was ever going to happen. And now the judge has reached the point where he’s striking down Trump’s nonsense filings in real time, a sign that he intends to get the trial underway fairly soon.
We’re now watching more and more sideshow nonsense fall by the wayside, just like it was always going to. Whether it’s Donald Trump’s criminal trials or the 2024 election, the sideshow stuff never ends up being part of the story. It’s just filler for the media while we wait for the real show to start. And now the show is getting closer to starting.
