Another one bites the dust
Throughout 2021 and 2022 and even early 2023, the mainstream political media (on both sides) continually insisted that Ron DeSantis was inevitable on the national stage. Every network, from MSNBC to Fox News, chased ratings by hyping DeSantis as super-savvy and the next big thing; the only difference was whether this hype was characterized as a good or bad thing.
But DeSantis was always a simpleton with zero political savvy and the personality of a dead robot. He was always highly likely to flop once he entered the 2024 race. Sure enough, by the time his initial rollout was complete, his campaign was effectively over. It got worse for him when he unleashed his real personality in an effort at turning things around, and it turned out to be far less appealing than the robot persona.
DeSantis keeps hanging around, mainly because someone has to end up with the 2024 Republican nomination if Trump loses his grip on it in the midst of his upcoming criminal trials and prison sentences. But as it turns out, DeSantis is increasingly hanging around by himself, as his top people continue to flee.
Ron DeSantis’ main Super PAC is now turning over its leadership for the third time, as the group falls apart in sync with DeSantis himself falling apart. This group is going through leaders like Spinal Tap went through drummers. That’s what tends to happen when the media falsely builds up a dunderhead so strongly that he enters the race polling at 45% in the primary contest, and then quickly loses about 35 of those points once he has to stand on his own.
This comes after DeSantis tried the stunt of debating California Governor Gavin Newsom in a Fox News setting, complete with Sean Hannity as moderator, and DeSantis still lost badly. DeSantis simply has zero political savvy. If you’ve been watching him over the past few years – actually watching him, instead of relying on the fictional ratings driven version of him that the media was feeding you – then you knew all along that DeSantis was always in way over his head.
