Another Oath Keeper just took himself down

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When the Trump regime resorted to aligning itself with violent domestic terrorist groups like the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys in a desperate attempt at keeping Trump in office, it was a high risk move to say the least. Given that many of the leaders of these groups are now sitting in prison over the Capitol attack, and at least two of the leaders have cut cooperating plea deals against everyone involved, this is now backfiring on Trump world already.

In case you need a further reminder that these kinds of groups are far removed from mental competence, another one of their members has just essentially taken himself down. According to Law and Crime, Oath Keepers member Edward Vallejo who’s been sitting in jail awaiting trial, managed to get caught committing two acts of obstruction of justice from the jailhouse phone.

This is important for two reasons. First, it cements that he’ll never get out on bail, and will instead have to rot in jail until after his trial. Second, these kinds of obstruction charges are easy to prove. So even if Vallejo thinks he has a chance of being acquitted on the underlying January 6th charges, he’ll definitely be convicted on these straightforward obstruction charges.

Now that he knows he’ll go straight from jail to prison and never taste freedom again until the end of his prison sentence, it gives him motivation to cut a cooperating plea deal and try to get out of prison more quickly. And of course if someone like Vallejo flips on his Oath Keeper leaders, it’ll give them more motivation to flip on Trump world.

Given that the DOJ has reportedly had a prosecutorial team targeting Trump world over the Capitol attack for several months, this kind of thing matters. Every additional cooperating witness makes it easier to take Trump world down. So if these new obstruction charges motivate Vallejo to flip, that’ll be another win for the DOJ in its prosecution of Trump world.
