Another big win for President Joe Biden

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As Republican prospects for retaking power in November began to dwindle, a number of House Republicans cheered on the possibility of a railroad shutdown happening just before the midterms, hoping the media would turn this into yet another crisis they could politicize while offering no real solutions. Unfortunately for them, President Biden proved them yet again wrong by announcing a newly struck tentative deal on Thursday morning with the railroads and railway labor unions that would allow for 24% raises and $5,000 bonuses – part of a five-year deal retroactive to the year 2020.

Union activism has surged under the leadership of President Biden, who rose to the occasion along with Labor Secretary Marty Walsh who both realized what was at stake in this deal. Even though the GOP liked to hail the former guy as a “dealmaker,” this is yet again another promise that President Biden has managed to deliver on – with a 56% rise in the number of petitions for labor representation sent to the National Labor Relations Board. Never has the distinction between both parties been as clear as it is right now – as Republicans are just doing all in their power to look for an excuse to grab power, while Democrats are getting things done and working to make our lives better. If anyone is looking for a reason to vote for Democrats and not just against Republicans, this is it.
