And so this is Christmas…
It’s been a long year. It’s still getting longer. But today is Christmas, and I don’t want to think about politics for once. Instead my focus is somewhere else today. With all that’s gone wrong, I’m thinking about what I’m thankful for. And that starts right here.
I’m thankful that so many of you are still reading this, for one thing. We’ve been doing this for nearly a decade. We’ve won some. We’ve lost some. And still, every morning, you’re still here to see what I have to say. I’m grateful. Politics is not an arena where you can often express gratitude. But I’m glad you’re here.
I’m also thankful, as always, for family and friends and loved ones. I’m grateful for my doctors and modern medicine and the health improvements that I’ve been able to make this year. I look forward to continued improving health in 2025. I’m thankful to still be in a position where I can fight the good fight.
This year didn’t have the outcome we wanted or needed, and there’s no minimizing that. But that’s a tomorrow thing, I think. Don’t worry, I’ll be back to banging political heads as needed tomorrow (or maybe even later today, depending on how stupid the villains out there decide to be today). In the meantime, I’m going to spend this morning simply being thankful for what’s going right. There will be plenty of time to focus on what’s going the other way.
