Donald Trump just basically said that Jews aren’t real Americans
Considering how closely Donald Trump has been copycatting Adolf Hitler’s playbook – from demonizing the media, to scapegoating certain ethnic groups, to putting people in concentration camps – it was a matter of time before Trump shrugged off all pretense and flat out declared that Jews aren’t real Americans. Sure enough, that’s basically what Trump said today.
This past week we’ve seen Trump convince Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to allow U.S. Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar to visit Israel. There are too many obviously horrible aspects to this to even list here. But one of the odd parts is that Trump keeps trying to align himself and his Republican Party with Israel, even though most American Jews vote Democrat. To that end, Hillary Clinton and the Democrats got seventy-something percent of the vote in 2016 (depending on which exit polls you refer to), whereas Trump and the Republicans only got twenty-something percent of the vote.
It was just a matter of time before Trump moved beyond attacking the Democrats for not siding with his supposed pro-Israel stance, and skipped directly to attacking American Jews for not being impressed with his supposed pro-Israel stance. Sure enough, here’s what Donald Trump said today, according to Jordan Fabian of Bloomberg Business: “Any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat – I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”
It would be one (awful) thing if Donald Trump has simply left it at “lack of knowledge,” as he’d have been saying that American Jews are too stupid or ignorant to know how to vote. But by tacking on the “great disloyalty” part, Trump is saying that Jews (or at least seventy-something percent of them) aren’t true loyal Americans because they vote Democrat. This antisemitic Hitler wannabe needs to be impeached. Right now.
