Alvin Bragg strikes back
There’s been a flurry of activity regarding Donald Trump’s NYC Fraud case. NYC DA Alvin Bragg does not want the ruling thrown out and is arguing vehemently against it. In a court filing, Bragg says that he opposes Trump’s demands that the verdict be vacated; he says there have “not been grounds for such relief.”
“President-elect immunity does not exist.” Bragg says in his filing. He urged Judge Merchan to deny Trump’s request. Bragg tells the judge that the guilty verdict should not be thrown out and that aspect of the case has been long-completed.
Isn’t it just like Trump to be raising a stink about this? Most people on social media are siding with Bragg on this one. And why wouldn’t they? As much as he aches to be unique, Donald Trump is far from it. In reality, the man is nothing more than a common criminal, and his rights should not be put above the everyday rights of ANYONE who is convicted on multiple charges.
Bragg also remarked that granting Trump this sort of relief would “subvert the compelling public interest” in “upholding the rule of law.”
What Merchan will ultimately do, I do not know, but hopefully, he will be sensible about this. Donald Trump is a petty crook, a fraudster, and a felon, and he should under no circumstances receive the relief he seeks.
