The Rudy stands alone

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

By now it’s clear what Rudy Giuliani’s plan is: throw as much utter nonsense at the wall as possible, in the hope that some of it might accidentally end up sticking. He’s hoping to make such a ridiculous farce out of Donald Trump’s various crimes and scandals that no one can properly keep track of what’s really going on. The trouble: it turns out he’s utterly terrible at carrying it out.

How difficult can it be for Rudy to come up with some random horse crap to throw out there each day? Just pick some lies that can’t easily be refuted, and that don’t risk blowing back on anyone on his own side. This is a task you could give to a twelve year old and have at least some hope that the directions would be followed correctly. But Rudy just can’t seem to stop screwing up his own plans to screw everything up.

Somehow Giuliani got the bright idea to drag Melania Trump, who has spent the past month trying to keep herself out of the spotlight, into the middle of things. Rudy announced that Melania believes Donald Trump’s version of events in the Stormy Daniels scandal. This prompted Melania’s people to push back in swift and predictable fashion, asserting that Rudy couldn’t possibly know this, because Melania has never discussed anything with him.

Where did Rudy Giuliani even get this from? Did Donald Trump feed him this claim about Melania? It sounds like the kind of thing that Donald would make up, but Rudy recently admitted that Donald never even speaks to him. So did Rudy just decide to randomly insert Melania into the Stormy affair scandal? That scandal seems to be part of what drove Melania into hiding in the first place. Giuliani is out there, all on his own, screwing up in ways that no one thought was even possible.
