Donald Trump’s “allies” keep turning against him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

– Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp, who signed off on the state’s vote certification yesterday, is the latest Trump ally who has selfishly decided not to stick his neck out to try to save Trump on his way down. For all of their pro-Trump bluster, many of Trump’s allies are now speaking more loudly with their actions than their words.

– Tweet of the day, from Stuart Stevens:

– Pardons aren’t magic wands. If Donald Trump pardons himself on federal charges, the courts will likely end up overruling him. No president can pardon Trump on state charges. If Trump pardons his underlings, they’ll no longer be facing self incrimination, meaning they can’t invoke the Fifth Amendment, so they’ll be required to testify against Trump. Trump’s pardon situation is complex and tricky at best.
