All hell breaks loose
If you stepped out for an evening on the town tonight and you’re just now getting back home, you may find yourself stunned if you check the news – or at the least, more stunned than usual. We’re suddenly looking at impending “big fish” arrests in the Trump-Russia scandal, secret criminal charges already in place, and a better understanding of why Donald Trump spent the day tweeting like he was in the late stages of rabies.
First we got the (intentional) court filing from Robert Mueller, confirming that we’re less than ten days away from the arrest of one or more people who have been sold out by Paul Manafort. Even as the internet was debating whether it was Donald Trump Jr or Roger Stone or both, we got the (unintentional) court filing which revealed that Julian Assange has already been secretly criminally charged. Wait, what?
So if Mueller’s allies have already indicted and charged Assange, how far along might they be in the extradition process? Do we even really know where he’s at? Is this why WikiLeaks hasn’t tweeted in several days? If Assange has already been charged for his election crimes, does this mean that his alleged partner Roger Stone has also already been indicted? How far down the rabbit hole does this go?
For the moment, we’re left with a whole lot of questions and not a whole lot of answers. But at least now we know which questions to ask – and we’re about to start getting the answers sooner rather than later. We all knew something big was coming, and we suspected it would be within this timeframe, but it’s still surreal that these things are now indeed in motion.
