Even Alan Dershowitz now thinks Donald Trump is screwed
Everyone has their own theory as to why Alan Dershowitz, a once-respected attorney who doesn’t seem to agree with Donald Trump on any political or social issues, has gradually devolved into an embarrassing Trump shill who’s willing to say almost anything in his defense. Whatever the reason for the recent shilling, even Dershowitz is now saying that he thinks Trump is screwed.
Alan Dershowitz appeared on ABC News on Sunday to discuss Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s endgame in the Trump-Russia scandal, and said this: “I think the report is going to be devastating to the president.” Dershowitz is playing this conservatively by assuming that Mueller will simply file a report about Trump, as opposed to finding a way to actively prosecute him. Nonetheless, it’s a big deal that a longtime Trump defender like Dershowitz is now trying to lay the groundwork for the devastation that Mueller is about to unleash on Trump.
It’s not difficult to see that Dershowitz is trying to belatedly redeem his largely ruined reputation. He predicts that Mueller’s endgame against Trump will be devastating, and when it ends up indeed being devastating, he can say that he’s the one who called it. Will anyone suddenly buy the notion that Dershowitz is no longer a Trump shill? That’s far less relevant to the big picture than the fact that one of Trump’s biggest shills is indeed now predicting a very bad ending for him.
