AG now investigating Donald Trump over his Liz Cheney threat, even as Trump further escalates his violent rhetoric today

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump keeps saying psychotically stupid things down the stretch that are costing him votes. That includes last night when he said that he’d love to see a bunch of guns pointed at the head of former Congresswoman Liz Cheney. Now the Arizona Attorney General is reportedly investigating Trump’s words as a possible death threat.

I don’t know if the AG would be able to get charges to stick against Trump for these comments alone. Trump could make the reasonable doubt argument at trial that he meant it metaphorically, and the jury might buy it. But I don’t much care whether charges are ultimately brought. Trump is going to prison when he loses anyway. What matters here is that the AG investigation into Trump’s threat against Liz Cheney gives the story another day’s worth of bad headlines for Trump.

So how is Trump dealing with the fallout? When he was asked about it by a reporter today, Trump announced that Liz Cheney “kills people.” No really, he said this. There’s video. This sure sounds like an escalation of a violent threat to me. First he says he wants guns pointed at her, and now he’s giving false justification for why Cheney supposedly deserves it.

If Trump wants to keep running his mouth like this, so be it. All it’s doing is costing him votes. And if he loses, he goes to prison.
