Did Donald Trump just acknowledge he’s going to prison and his properties are going to be seized?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Donald Trump makes so many strange and confusing remarks off the top of his head, whether they be on Twitter or out loud in front of the cameras, that some of them end up being overlooked by the media entirely. That was the case this week when Trump met with with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar and made a bizarre unprompted remark about never getting to see his properties in Ireland again, just as Congressman began tweeting about seizing Trump’s financial assets.

During the joint press conference, a reporter asked Donald Trump if he’s planning to make an official visit to Ireland. Trump’s answer: “I will. I love it. I have property there, and I may never get to see it again.” After the media largely overlooked this, NBC Late Night Host Seth Meyers flagged it during his show (link), asking if Trump was acknowledging that he’s going to prison as a result of the Trump-Russia investigation.

We’re not entirely sure if that’s what Trump meant, but it’s certainly possible. Trump has been making increasingly frantic moves over the past week, as it’s become clear to him that Robert Mueller is moving in on him. So perhaps Trump was acknowledging the scenario in which he goes from the White House to prison, and therefore never does get to enjoy life as a free man after leaving office. There’s also another possible explanation, thanks to a tweet this weekend by a prominent Democratic Congressman.

Eric Swalwell, who sits on one of the congressional committees investigating the Trump-Russia scandal and has therefore seen evidence that’s not publicly available, tweeted on Saturday that the Trump Organization will be wiped out “down to the studs” as a result of the investigation (link). Combine this with Mueller’s recent subpoena of Trump Organization financial records, and points to asset seizures. Perhaps when Trump said he may never get to see his properties again, he was acknowledging that he fears they’ll be taken away from him.
