Adam Schiff slam dunks House GOP after they take a huge swing and miss at him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has spent weeks making increasingly absurd false accusations of impropriety against House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. Trump has accused Schiff of “treason” and called for Schiff’s arrest. Trump has accused Schiff of secretly being the Ukraine whistleblower. These are the ramblings of a deranged madman, but Trump’s House GOP allies have largely gone along with it.

Today, a large chunk of House Republicans tried to get Adam Schiff censured. The whole thing was a laughably quixotic exercise, as at least some House Democrats would have had to support the effort in order to for to pass. Predictably, it ended up failing, and Schiff has in fact not been censured.

Not that Adam Schiff needed any vindication when it comes to how he’s been handling himself, but today’s result made clear that any Trump-GOP effort to sabotage him is the stuff of smoke and mirrors. After the censure nonsense failed, Schiff tweeted this in response: “It will be said of House Republicans, When they found they lacked the courage to confront the most dangerous and unethical president in American history, They consoled themselves by attacking those who did.”

If this censure nonsense was Donald Trump’s “Plan A” for stopping the House impeachment inquiry from going forward against him, we can’t wait to see what “Plan B” is going to be. Will they ask Adam Schiff to pull their finger? Try to convince Nancy Pelosi that her shoes are untied when they’re not?
