Welcome to Act III in Donald Trump’s self-made tragedy
“President” Donald J. Trump knows he is toast, as in Trump Toast. In what is quickly becoming the final act of this tragedy of his own making, Trump has gone from nonsensical to delusional.
On Thursday, after getting bad news all day and on his way to the G20 Summit in Argentina, Trump tweeted: “’This demonstrates the Robert Mueller and his partisans have no evidence, not a whiff of collusion, between Trump and the Russians. Russian project legal. Trump Tower meeting (son Don), perfectly legal. He wasn’t involved with hacking.’ Gregg Jarrett. A total Witch Hunt!”
Trump is quoting Jarrett, who is wrong. If things have always been on the up and up, then why have dozens of Trump family members and close friends and associates lied repeatedly about the meetings and what was conducted?
In other news tonight, the Trump Tower Moscow was going to have a penthouse guest, one Vladimir Putin. It is not illegal to do business in Russia, but it is a problem when there appears to be some quid pro quo in the works and also suggests that more than nothing was going on between Trump and Russia and Putin.
Before he boarded the plane to Argentina, Trump stated: “Now here’s the thing: even if he’s right it doesn’t matter because I was allowed to do whatever I wanted during the campaign. I was running my business, a lot of different things during the campaign.”
Again, that is not how things work. Before he left, Trump cancelled his meeting with Putin. However, reports from Russia are that they are demanding Trump, the asset, proceed with the meeting with his handler, Putin. One wonders what other news will come out about what power Putin holds over Trump and it cannot just be a penthouse suite. As this Act III plays out, and we will see what calamities and tales of woe face the mad, delusional king.
