Donald Trump just had an absolutely terrible day, and we were too busy sulking to notice

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

For those who think today was somehow a good day for Donald Trump, or a bad day for the Resistance, let’s recap what really happened. His Flynn stunt didn’t gain him a single vote. He likely cost himself votes today. This stunt doesn’t prevent the judge from imprisoning Michael Flynn. Bill Barr now definitely goes to prison if Trump loses the election.

“But the rule of law died today!” No it didn’t. The rule of law died the day Trump took office. He’s committed hundreds of felonies in office. Today’s felony doesn’t even help him in any way. Who cares? The rule of law will return the day Trump loses. Nothing new here.

“But Trump is getting away with it all!” Really? What did he “get away with” today? He pulled a dumb stunt that hurt him in every way. The only way this dumb stunt benefits him is if it baits you into throwing a pity party, instead of putting in the work to win the election.

Trump has an approval rating far too low to get reelected, and if he loses the election, he goes to prison. Instead of doing things to try to raise his approval rating, he’s wasting his time and resources on dumb stunts that don’t help him at all. Good. Keep it up, Trump!

If Donald Trump were behaving reasonably right now, or doing a good job of faking it, then we’d have serious reason to worry. Behaving reasonably could boost his approval rating. Instead he’s still pandering to his too-small base, because he has no idea how any of this even works.
