ABC News says Donald Trump’s Obamagate scandal is “bullshit”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

What is Obamagate? No one has any idea – least of all Donald Trump. He keeps tweeting and ranting about it incessantly, but he can’t come close to specifying what he thinks the supposed scandal is even about. Best anyone can tell, it’s some kind of conspiracy theory involving President Obama, the FBI, the NSA, the CIA, and probably Ronald McDonald all plotting to frame Michael Flynn for crimes that he’s already… confessed to? That can’t be right.

When it comes to phony manufactured scandals like this, the only question ends up being how the mainstream media decides to approach it. Fox News doesn’t count, because its audience is already on Trump’s side anyway. The impact of a phony scandal is measured by how the legitimate major news outlets cover it. For instance, it was clear from the start that Hillary Clinton’s supposed email scandal was fake, but the media treated it like it was Watergate, and it turned a number of undecided voters against Clinton.

Fortunately, the media seems to have no intention of treating “Obamagate” like a legitimate scandal. As Mediaite pointed out today, ABC News chief legal analyst Dan Abrams used his satellite radio show today to call the whole thing “bullshit.” You’re not going to hear him using that language during a proper ABC News broadcast, but it makes clear that he’s not going to give this phony scandal any credence when he and his network are covering it. Looks like Trump is going to have to find a new phony scandal to hype.
