A message for MAGA

Dear Palmer Report readers, this is an uncertain time so I'm asking for your help. If you can each contribute $5 or $25 or $75 – whatever matches your budget – to help with Palmer Report’s ongoing operating expenses, it’ll help a lot. Thank you so much. Contribute here. Much thanks, Bill Palmer

If you’re a Republican and you voted for Trump then you’re going to have to own this. You’re going to have to look squarely at the cynical exploitation of the devastating fires in Southern California by MAGA and acknowledge that many of your own people are scum. While brave people are risking their lives and desperately trying to put out these fires and save people’s lives and homes, Donald Trump, his idiot spawn Don Jr and the whole MAGA crowd are laughing and crowing. They’re telling lies about how the “reason” for these fires is because California is “woke.” And if you believe that then you’re scum too.

Back before the election, when hurricane Helene hit the east coast, Donald Trump and MAGA lied and said that FEMA was not there to help people, that migrants were getting all the money and that the hurricane was “geo-engineered” by the Democrats. Thanks to these lies, FEMA workers who were there to save lives and bring aid to the afflicted were shot at by MAGA lunatics and morons. Trump didn’t lift a finger to rebut these lies. If you’re a Republican who voted for Trump anyway, that’s on you as well.

Now that all of MAGA has won, now that MAGA owns the Supreme Court, the Congress and the presidency, when is it going to be enough? When are they going to drop the politics and show some compassion? If you voted for Trump and you’re proud of the hate and mockery coming out of MAGA right now for the people of Los Angeles then, I repeat, you’re scum.

In reading and listening to the shitweasel claque who will shortly be infesting the White House, my overwhelming takeaway is they’re actually glad that Los Angeles is in flames. They relish every minute of it and haven’t a second to spare for the victims of this horrific tragedy. It’s rare when my disgust turns to fury, but this is one of those times. If this is a harbinger of things to come and you voted for Trump, I hope you feel uneasy about all this. I hope you’re starting to rethink your vote. Because if you’re not, then you’re scum.

There used to be a time, when tragedy struck, when terrorists attacked, when natural disasters happened, when foreign enemies moved against us, we came together as a nation. MAGA doesn’t do that. For MAGA, everything is politics, and if there’s any praise, they take it, loudly, boastfully, hatefully. If there’s any blame — and with Trump and the MAGA crowd there’s ALWAYS blame — they give it, cynically, heartlessly, relentlessly and with sneering bad faith. And they lie and lie and lie and lie. If you’re part of that then you have lost your right to call yourself a human being. You’re scum.

I wouldn’t have to write any of this if it weren’t for the filth, the hate, the lies that are being heaped on the people of Southern California by MAGA. It helps no one. It compounds the terrible pain and suffering they’re already going through. I was brought up to believe that kicking someone when they’re down is the act of a coward. If you’re participating in this hateful act, then you’re a coward too. And you’re scum.

Right now Donald Trump is lamenting that if only he was in charge right now, the fires in California would be handled better. Really? My sister lost her home in the Santa Rosa fire of 2017. Donald Trump’s response was to fly to California, lend personal oversight to the aid and comfort of the victims. No, I’m just kidding. He played golf. He tweeted about the stock market. He made disparaging comments about “Crooked Hillary.” When he finally got around to saying something about the fires, it was so dreadfully lacking in compassion a Russian bot would have done a better job. Trump doesn’t give a shit about you, and if you voted for him and you don’t know that by now then not only are you scum but you’re a fool.

This is a microcosm of things to come, and California is going to suffer even more after Trump takes office. Now I’m going to add something which I shouldn’t have to add. California also has millions of Republicans. It ought to be enough that they’re Americans. There was a time when it was enough. But now I say there are Republicans in California, millions of them. And if you need to know that to have compassion for the people who are dying and losing their homes right now then — you guessed it — you’re scum.
