1984

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It was the year 1984. Those were their halcyon days for the party who enjoyed a great deal of popularity. They sat high in the sky, enclosed by the golden light of the sun. The 1984 Presidential election had just happened. Their candidate, Ronald Reagan, had just won in a landslide, scooping up the electoral votes of 49 states.

The Democratic candidate, Walter Mondale, won 13 electoral votes. Those came from Minnesota and the District of Columbia. Reagan won 525 electoral votes. It was a victory for Republicans. Perhaps they thought they’d keep it forever. Perhaps they got a little too close to the sun’s fire.

And now here we stand in the year 2023. And the 1984 bloom has certainly left the rose. They have lost election after election. They’re putting forth horrible candidates. They are choosing to follow a madman who’s a twice indicted thug. And with each new move they make, they fall harder, brighter, and more emptily.

The fall for the GOP seems unending. It’s no wonder! They seem to make blunders daily, forfeiting their right to be called a party of the people. Down they go, falling away from every potential new opportunity for them to get back to what they once were.

And what they once were was a legitimate Political party. Sure we had disagreements about policy. But that’s NORMAL. Now they are a shell of what they were. See them fall. See them lose. At the time of this writing, Republicans have no viable candidate for the 2024 presidential election. They started with what they thought were two hot tickets— Trump and DeSantis.

Trump has been indicted multiple times and will likely be indicted again soon. DeSantis opened his mouth and showed the American people what a buffoon he was and the rest was predictable. His poll numbers cratered. Down they continue to go.

The Freedom Caucus has forced out Marjorie Taylor Greene. There are many arguments going on, from within the Republican House. The Republican party has started to rot. They can’t get their messaging together. And all the investigations that Gym Jordan wanted to do have backfired. The GOP is spinning into oblivion.

Their fall is hard, fast, and unstoppable. It is up to us to make it complete by beating them in every possible way in 2024. Taking back the House. Keeping the Senate. Giving Joe Biden another four years. And letting the GOP know it’s not 1984 anymore. And they have lost.
