Where the Georgia Senate runoff races stand for Warnock and Ossoff (11:00pm eastern time)
It’s been an hour since our 10pm update, and things haven’t changed a lot but they’re becoming more clear. Reverend Raphael Warnock is coming closer to being a lock to win, and Jon Ossoff is now looking very likely.
What are we basing this on? Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue are both holding slim leads in total votes counted. But the majority of the remaining uncounted votes are from heavily Democratic-leaning counties, which will likely be enough to put Warnock and Ossoff over the top.
It’s not a guarantee. Well, Warnock is almost a guarantee at this point. He and Ossoff are both still performing better than Biden did in Georgia in November, meaning they’re both on track to win. However, Warnock is doing a fraction of a percentage point better than Ossoff across the board, meaning Warnock is more of a lock.
No major news outlets have called either race. However, Dave Wasserman of the respected Cook Political Report has called the race in favor of Warnock. Meanwhile over at the New York Times, its predictive needle gives Warnock a greater than 95% chance of winning, and gives Ossoff a 93% chance of winning. These numbers change every few minutes; this article is current as of 11:00pm eastern time.
