There’s something going on between Rudy Giuliani and Felix Sater
What do Rudy Giuliani and Felix Sater have in common? They’re both shady characters with a dark past. They’re both criminal co-conspirators of Donald Trump. They’re both big players in the Trump-Russia scandal, with roles that are not quite what they seem. And Giuliani and Sater are both apparently up to something, together, as we speak.
Felix Sater is a convicted Russian mafia money launderer who collaborated with the Trump Organization on several shady real estate deals which were almost certainly money laundering fronts. Sater has since become a government informant in order to avoid going back to prison, which means that he must tell (and surely already has told) everything he knows about Donald Trump’s crimes to Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Rudy Giuliani is Trump’s new “attorney” and he’s also one of Trump’s criminal co-conspirators in the Trump-Russia election rigging scandal. So what’s their deal now?
Sater is playing for Team Mueller, whether he wants to or not. Giuliani claims he’s playing for Team Trump, but he’s made such a mess out of Donald Trump’s legal defense over the past week, we don’t know what he’s doing anymore. But we do know that these two guys are in communication with each other. Late last night, Anthony Cormier of BuzzFeed tweeted this: “Just saw Felix Sater chatting with Rudy Giuliani outside Trump International.” Wait, what?
It’s not known what they were discussing. It’s possible they ran into each other at random and merely exchanged small talk, though that would raise the question of what Felix Sater was doing at Trump International to begin with. That’s the hotel where Donald Trump’s political goons all hang out and socialize. It feels like there must be a lot more going on here. Of course the real upshot is this: if Sater and Giuliani are plotting something inappropriate, they’re so brazenly inept about it, they just got caught in the act.
